Tips To An Effective Family Budget
Every family as a whole is responsible for budgeting and saving. It is not the responsibility only of the parents to do all the earning and all the saving. Children should also be included in the conversation, they should be aware of the amount of family income available and the amount that can be spend in a month so that they are well versed with inflow and outflow. This way they will know where to draw the line while asking for certain demands which may seem unreasonable or unnecessary.
If the family has the habit of going on a family holiday every year, proper research should be done to locate cheap and best hotels, discounts in air fares and tickets, simple and moneysaving methods of transportation and most economical places to eat and see while on this trip. A certain amount of expense should be budgeted for holiday spending and one should ensure that this is in no way exceeded. It is best to buy anything only when you have the means. Going in for a loan to buy a car or new fridge or two-wheeler will add to the unnecessary expense as interests on loans are high and can be avoided.
Credit card and debit card expenses can also be curtailed. Usage of credit card should be restricted and if absolutely necessary should be done with a lot of thought and contemplation. Rash and hasty purchases are often regretted later when it is too late. If you have too many electrical and electronic items in your house, see that they are used scrupulously. Random and haphazard usage of electrical items should be curtailed. Leaving lights or fans on, forgetting to switch off the washing machine, overloading the fridge, keeping boilers on indiscriminately, running the washing machines with only half a load which all be avoided. In fact it would even be a good idea to go in for solar heating. It is a cheap and effective way of saving a lot of money on your monthly electricity bill.

Neither a lender not a borrower be. Never lend or borrow money from friends, family or neighbors. You will never know when to stop and you will get used to the idea of borrowing money to spend when you have run out of some of your own. This is one habit that is best avoided. Discourage debt at any cost. Have a family policy to buy and live well within your means.
Living simply does not mean that you cannot enjoy life or enjoy the good things of life. It just means that you have to plan, prepare and ponder before buying unnecessary and extravagant items which can be either resourced at a cheaper rate or can be done without all together. One family can have just about the best food, holidays, clothes, social life, education and house without going overboard and resorting to loans and biting off more than you can chew. Parents should be cautious and vigilant in formulating, preparing and devising budgets which will benefit and take care of each member of the family.
